For the past 12 months, Wes and I have been trying to come up with an epic fishing trip for 2015. We tossed around a heap of ideas and at the top of the list was heading back to the Coromandel in New Zealand to chase kingfish and snapper out of kayaks. We were unable to get enough numbers together to make it work within the budget, so it was back to the drawing board.
Wes sent me a message on Facebook the other day and instantly it looked like a good idea! On the list in the message was Brogo Dam, Mallacoota, Eucumbene River/Dam & Lake Burrinjuck. We plotted the trip on google and I realised that a better loop would also see us visit Lake Hume.
Starting in Nowra, this loop of southern N.S.W. will see us cover 1,556km with boats in tow over 11 days chasing Bass, Bream, Trout, Redfin, Yellow Belly and Murray Cod. The plan is to arrive at the destination, fish it in the afternoon then the following day then leave the morning after and move onto the next destination. So we should get 1.5 days fishing at each spot.
