The Great Southern Loop – Update

So last month I put up a post about our plans for a southern loop of NSW trip. Since then,  we’ve been trying to research each spot as much as possible and refine our destinations somewhat. We took on some advice and have decided to give Lake Hume a miss this time and instead we’ll be heading to Blowering Dam near Tumut. We’ve been told this is the home of the big Murray Cod, so how could we not go there!

The plan is to leave on Sunday the 12th of April and return by Friday the 24th April. The new route shortens the travel time by 3 hours and the distance by 200 km’s. The plan remains the same of having 1.5 days in each location but if our selected destination isn’t producing the goods, we’ll move on and vise versa, with a couple of spare days if it is producing we’ll stay on a little extra.

In the mean time, I’m collecting as much camera gear as I can as Wes put the idea out there of potentially doing a DVD length video of the trip. Fingers crossed the fishing and weather is kind, as this would be awesome to see it all come together!
