Around 2 weeks ago one of my Trout mad mates Dane, asked me if I wanted to join him and his buddy Ryan on a quick overnight trip down to Tumut to try and find some Rainbow’s in the Tumut River and other surrounding systems.
I left after work on Thursday afternoon to meet in Moss Vale to pick them up and then continue driving on our 4 hour drive south to a free camp Dane had picked out for us to camp at that night.
The following morning we fished the creek at the camp grounds and walked down stream a little until we hit Blowering Dam and caught the first and last fish of the day.
The Tumut River was absolutely hammering as the dam had released 5,821ML on Thursday and on the day we were fishing another 4,136ML was being dumped. This really limited our options, but made us go and explore other areas. We fished all day, covered plenty of k’s both on foot and in the car, but our efforts weren’t rewarded. We called it quits at about 5pm and headed home.
It would have been great to smash them, but it wasn’t our turn that day. I captured lots of footage so here is the edit, which is best viewed in HD.
